Mindful Strength Training 101

When: Tuesday April 16, 2024

What time: 4pm PST / 7pm EST (1 hour)

Where: zoooooom I’ll email ya the link once you register

And yes, we’ll send out a recording if you can’t make it live. Your camera can be on or off, we will have an unrecorded space for Q+A at the end.

Cost: Free!

Is this a workout? Not at all. It will mostly be me talking (education) with a few opportunities to sample movements to anchor what we are learning in your body. These are optional.

What kind of space & equipment will I need? Very little! You’ll need a little patch of open floor space (about the size of a yoga mat will do,) and a place to stand with your back against a wall (or the back of a closed door.)

Do I need to have prior experience with strength training? Nope! We will build your foundation from the ground up.

Also!

Full permission to leave this workshop 10 mins in if you’re like “NOPE, not for me.”

Seriously. I trust you to know what is right for you and your body.

What we’ll cover

Most of this will be me talking, though there will be a few opportunities sprinkled throughout to sample movement as a way to anchor what we’re learning in your body.

  • How the adaptation of strength happens

  • How mindful strength training is different than what we might think (mythbusting unhelpful narratives that have been handed to us by diet culture, fatphobia, ableism, and white supremacy)

  • How you can bring mindfulness to any movement you are already doing (strength training or otherwise)

  • How + why mindful strength training can nourish, energize, and support your mind, body, and spirit

  • Immediate gratification + long term benefits of this kind of movement practice

  • How to intuitively find the right dose for you (aka how many reps? how often should I train? How long should my sessions be?)

What you’ll walk away with

  • Joyful permission to strength train in a way that you actually enjoy

  • Deeper trust in the wisdom of your body

  • Practical movement tools to help you get grounded

  • Clarity about how to hire movement so that it resources you, rather than depleting you

  • Confidence in your internal feedback loops that emboldens you to experiment and learn-by-doing

Hope to see you there!

  • Ciara says:

“Hannah really took the time to explain the reasoning behind the strength moves, and encouraged us to honor our own internal wisdom around what was possible for our bodies.”

  • Taryn says:

“This was the program I had been dreaming of without even realizing it was possible. I had been craving more strength, but had no idea how to approach that without reengaging old harmful patterns.”

  • Lisa says:

“Hannah’s created a revolutionary space to notice, name and re-write internal stories about fitness in addition to building physical strength.”

  • Janine says:

“I came to this with some fear: of being seen in my fat, disabled, senior body; that my needs for safety, accommodation, inclusion, and acceptance would not be met; fear of throwing good money after bad in the pursuit of feeling better in my body.

Now I feel stronger and more optimistic about life in this body, as it is and as it is becoming.
