body liberation playground

The Body Liberation Playground is an online membership community of humans who are befriending their bodies and reclaiming movement as an act of self-love.

Breaking up with diet culture can feel like leaving a cult.

It’s scary because so much belonging and intimacy in our society is cultivated by bonding over diets, food restriction methods, talk of weight loss, and hatred of our bodies.

To decide you want to leave all of those conversations can feel like you are leaving society.

It can feel like you are choosing a very lonely life.

This is exactly the reason I started this community.

The work of unlearning anti-fat bias, and re-learning how to trust our bodies and move joyfully is freaking hard.

But it is way easier to do together.

It can be so healing to sit in a circle together…

to make space for the grief we hold over how long we tortured our bodies at diet culture’s whim.

to mourn the ways we punished our bodies for being “not enough” when in reality all bodies are incredibly miraculous ecosystems

to remind each other (when each of us has that inevitable moment of forgetting) who the real villain is: white supremacy, capitalism, anti-fat bias, hyper-individualism and ableism. These systems are breaking our bodies. Our bodies are not inherently broken.

On the Body Liberation Playground, we are practicing…

putting self-love into weekly action

crafting movement RITUALS instead of routines

moving in ways that feel nourishing and joyful to our bodies in real time, not just after the workout/class/activity is over

redefining and reclaiming beauty in a way that includes us, exactly as we are.

celebrating our tiniest wins

Let’s laugh, cry, play, and remember how our bodies love to move.

We gather to witness, support & learn from each other

Community Circle

This is a chance to receive witnessing and support from your fellow community members. The basic premise is that each person will get 10mins to share openly about their current state of being in relationship to movement and their unique body. If having a specific question is helpful, you can answer the questions “How am I really? What is most important to me?”

You can talk the whole time, or use part of your time to ask for support in the exact form you’d like it. Affirmations, reflections, echos, similar experiences, loving commiseration, the key is: YOU GET TO DECIDE and name what kind of response would feel supportive to receive. In this way, we practice radical consent and strengthen our ability to feel into what our needs truly are.

Group Coaching

We will begin with a short grounding practice to invite us into our bodies and into this present moment, then I’ll open it up for questions. You can raise your hand, share whatever you need support with in the moment, and I’ll offer some coaching. These calls are a beautiful way to learn from each other (it’s amazing how someone else’s question will pull out JUST the nugget of coaching that you didn’t even know you needed.)

24/7 Community Support at your fingertips

Our Virtual Playground

Our community is hosted on Mighty Networks, which has similar functionality to a Facebook group, but better! It’s private — no algorithm, no ads. The only people in there will be folks who have filled out an application, and then received a personal invitation from me. You can chime in on the forum any time of day using their nifty mobile app, or you can connect with us via the web browser version on your computer.

Weekly Check Ins

In the forum, I will post each Friday inviting you to share your INTENTIONS for body-tending for the upcoming week, and your REFLECTIONS from the past week.

Your intentions can be ANYTHING — taking a short walk at lunch, taking a 10min nap after lunch, dancing to 1 song before work, doing 2 strength training sessions — the point is to declare what you are trying on for that week in regards to body-tending and personal empowerment movement practice. As you reflect on the past week, we encourage you to do so as non-judgmentally as you can, and decide what to celebrate, what to carry forward into the next week, and what to leave behind or allow to fall away.

  • It’s a buffet — eat what you want, leave what you don’t, there is no need to “finish what’s on your plate” ever. The whole point of this space is to practice trusting our own wisdom, as we feel it in our bodies. To that end, I invite you to trust yourself to know how much to show up for and how often.

  • Me! Hannah Husband. I am a body liberation coach with a background in strength training, pilates, Kinstretch aka Functional Range Conditioning, and theatre (including teaching and choreographing stage combat.)

Think of me as the host of a radical party (this online space right here!) where sobbing & full belly laughs are equally welcome.

    I'm so excited to see…

…how we can support EACH OTHER in our very unique quests to befriend our bodies.
